The history of the iconic Reebok brand date back to 1880 and the city of Bolton in Great Brittain. The company's founder was a runner, Joseph William Foster, which already as a young boy designed some of the earliest spiked running shoes. The company established under a name J.W. Foster, was renamed soon after to J.W Foster & Sons Limited, after Joseph's sons joined in. They were producing and distributing sports footwear across the United Kindgom. Year 1924 brought a great success, they were made famous by 100m and 400m Olympic champions, Harold Abrahams and Eric Liddel, in Summer Olympics held in Paris. In 1958 two of the founder's grandsons Joseph and Jeffrey formed a companion company called "Reebok". Word chosen for the company's name came from a South African dictionary won in a running race by Joe Foster as a boy. The name is Afrikaans for the grey rhebok, a type of African antelope.
