Carbon craziness

Carbon crazinessThe Puma Drift Cat is already an icon among Puma's classic models. It was inspired by footwear worn by professional drivers and designed for motorsports fans who wanted to extend their passion in everyday life. Obviously, there're a few things that differ, but we'll get to that part in a moment. Let's start with similarities. Just as in the racing shoes we have here a thin sole that lets you feel the car pedals much better. The rubber is highly durable and appropriately dense so that even when driving for extended periods of time your feet don't tire so easily. Another thing is the shape of the heel area which was really thought-through in which the rubber from the outsole is extended to cover the heel, preventing the heel from slipping on a car rug. In the midsole, we can find a small amount of foam so that walking is as much comfortable as driving in them. On the other hand, we can't expect to have the same level of cushioning as in adidas Boost or Nike Air Max. As the saying goes, you cannot have your cake and eat it too :). Footwear provides a good fit and it's rather narrow so that it doesn't have any loose parts.

Designers included in the construction some quality of life improvements like an anti-bacterial insole for example. The current 5th version of the model includes carbon-looking elements that correspond directly to the material used in many parts of the modern racing cars and is used mainly for its low weight and durability. It's impossible to use real carbon as a material in the shoes since it's really hard and bad for such constructions. We think that the combination looks very spectacular and gives the shoes a unique character.

It's important t remember that it isn't a professional racing footwear. It's made of different materials that cannot be used in professional motorsports, if only due to the fact that they're not non-flammable. It's one of the most important features of the footwear used by professional racing drivers.

You can find many Drift Cat models in our offer along with the newest one, called CARBON.
